Preaching from Luke 15:11-24 for Alive International Eric Panich, November 13, 2020 I, Yuji, preach in English for Alive International once a month. On Nov.8, this time, I did from Luke 15:11-24. Yumiko S. translated my sermon into Japanese. Everybody knows that this scripture passage is about the parable of the Prodigal Son. But I again realized that this parable is not about the son who squandered his father’s property but about his father who sacrificed his property to regain his lost son. Of course, this father in the parable represents our God. I believed the key verse of this parable is 15:20b: “But when he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.” How gracious our God is! We Christians are often lost before God by creating something idols in our hearts. But God always saves us from sins of idolatry again and again through the Good News of Jesus, His only Son. By his grace through Christ, we are loved by God as His children! Uncategorized
